Airspaces and airports are getting busier, turnovers are shorter, and flights are more frequent and diverse. It is understandable why operators want to have more experienced pilots on board.

While there have been both positive and negative rumors about pay-to-fly schemes, it is becoming an increasingly complex question to answer: "Should I go for A320 line training?"

First things first, I would like to address comments like, “It’s basically stealing people’s money.” There has been, and there will always be, a product like this for those who want to use this advantage and ensure that their career is more or less secured.

One day, everyone who wants to be a pilot realizes that, even though this is one of the most controlled and inspected professions in the world, every career is different, and everyone has different abilities to complete the series of challenging tasks. A good training program can get ahead of this exact problem if done right. Based on my personal experience, dozens of pilots would have appreciated training this extensive in a real-life environment. The attention to your tiniest movements from an excellent instructor will give you the possibility to finish the training with balanced high self-esteem. Not only flight hours, but this personal attribute can make a difference when applying for a job and serving in your position, providing the maximum safety possible.

Believe it or not, pilots with thousands of hours also buy similar products. The reasons can be personal or corporate, but most of the time, pilots coming from private aviation tend to be more willing to complete a line training program because of the countless possibilities it offers after completing the minimum block hours on type.

There is another group who can benefit from this product. We all know that starting is the hardest part, especially if you begin this career later in life. Your chances can be reduced when interviewing with an airline. Since the age limit for such programs tends to be higher, this can literally be a life-changer for fresh pilots over a certain age.

Lastly, I would like to mention the support for pilots outside the EU. The question I get the most is whether you need an EU-issued passport to fly in the EU. The answer is a resounding no! You need the right to stay and travel in the EU, but when has a little paperwork ever stopped someone from achieving their dream? With the rise of pay-to-fly programs, unfortunately, there are also scams targeting unsuspecting pilots. It is crucial to research the training provider thoroughly to ensure the company is reputable, with verifiable reviews and testimonials from previous participants. Checking airline partnerships is also important, as legitimate programs often have connections with well-known airlines. Be wary of hidden fees, as legitimate programs will provide a clear breakdown of all costs involved. Lastly, I strongly recommend to have your contract revised by a lawyer or law related personnel. 

Pursuing A320 line training can be a valuable step in your aviation career, providing you with crucial experience and improving your employability in a competitive industry. However, it is essential to carefully consider your financial situation, the legitimacy of the training provider, and your long-term career goals before committing. By making informed decisions, you can navigate the complexities of the aviation industry and take significant strides towards becoming a successful airline pilot.
